How we use your information
Privacy Policy
A plain-language overview of the personal data collected through comments, forms, orders, accounts and embedded content.
What data we collect
Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the information shown in the comments form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data such as EXIF GPS. Visitors may be able to download images and extract that location data.
Contact and order forms
If you complete a contact form or place an order, your contact and billing information will be collected. Payment details are not stored on this website or server; they are handled by the payment-processing provider.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.
When you log in, temporary and login cookies are used to confirm browser support, retain login status and save screen preferences. Login cookies generally last for two days, while “Remember Me” can extend a session to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie may be saved. It contains no personal data, identifies the edited post and expires after one day.
Content from other websites
Articles may include embedded content such as videos, images and articles. Embedded content behaves as though you visited the originating website directly. Those websites may collect data, use cookies, add third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically. For registered users, personal information provided in the user profile is also stored.
Users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except for their username. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
Your rights
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data held about you, including data you provided. You can also request deletion of personal data, except information that must be retained for administrative, legal or security reasons.
This redesign preserves the substance of the current policy. Before publishing, have the policy reviewed against your active plugins, analytics, payment processors and applicable privacy requirements.
